"In the name of God, Amen, I Stephen H. Martin of Marion District and State
of South Carolina being of sound mind and memory and considering the uncertainty of his
frail and transitory life do therefore make ordain publish and declare this to be my last
will and testament; that is to say, first after all of my lawful debts are paid and
discharged the residue of my estate real and personal I give bequeath and dispose of
as follows to wit. To my son Mathew F. Martin on feather bed and furniture together with eighty-nine dollars and of a receipt for a note in the hands of G. M. Fairlee for collection, when collected. To my daughter Susanah Martin one feather bed and furniture and one hundred dollars out of a receipt for a note in the hands of G. M. Fairlee for collection, when collected. Also one cow and yearling known as the Johnson cow. To my son David S. Martin one feather bed and furniture. To my beloved wife Sarah Martin on black horse and buggy. Also I give bequeath and devise all the rest residue and remainder of my real and personal estate to my said beloved wife during her natural life. To my son David S. Martin, after her death. Likewise make constitute and appoint my said son M.F. Martin to be executor to this, my last will and testament hereby making all former wills by me made. In witness where of I have here unto subscribed my name and affixed my seal, this fourteenth day of December 1865."
