NOTE:
The following is the transcription of The Neill McInnis Will. It has been
transcribed exactly as it was written. There are many words that are not
spelled correctly and the writer spells Neill and McInnis different ways.
As far back as the mid 1800's it was spelled McInnis in my family line, however
I am aware that some spelled it McInnes.
WILL OF NEILL McINNIS
In the name of God Amen.
Whereas I Neill M Innis of South Carolina Marion District, Being weak of
body but of perfect mind and memory thanks be to God for the same. And
calling to mind the mortality of my body. And knowing that it is appointed
for all men once to die. do make and ordain this my last will and Testa-
ment., (That is to say)
First) I recommend my Soul to the hands of Almighty god who gave it.
And my body to return to the dust In a christian like manner Not doubting
but I shall receive the same by the resurrection of Jesus Christ.
And touching such worldy property as it hath pleased god, to blefs me with
in this Life I give and dispose off in the following manner
2. I give/ & bequeath unto my well beloved wife Effy M Innis all my tract of
land Lying on each side of the Indigo bay to remain her.s during her life time
- And then to be divided equally among all the heirs And it is my will and desire
that my son Miles McInnis may reside on the plantation that he is now living
on. his mothers life time that is if he chooses to stay. And it is my desire also
that all my stock to be at the disposal of my wife /Effy M Innis/ her life time And then
to be divided as the land among the heirs Likewise household and kitchen fur-
niture & farming Utensels. to remain her,s during her lifetime And it is
expected that there will be some Legacy or Legacies. a coming to my wife
as heirship from the estate of Norman M Innis dec'd, who lived on the Mysisippi
Louisianna state concordia parish And if any legacy should be collected.
It is my desire that it shall be at the disposal of my wife Effy M Innis.
to do with it as she sees proper, And it is my will and desire that my son
Angus M Innis will be the superintender of all the Businefs at my wifes
discease I do declare this to be my last will and Testament this the 15th April
