Will Of
John T. McRae
In the name of God, Amen
I, John T. McRae, of the State of South Carolina Marion District;
being of sound and disposing mind and memory blessed be God for the same do
this the twenty third day of November in the year of our Lord one thousand
eight hundred and forty seven Publish and declare this my last will & Testament
in form & manner following vis.
Item 1st, I give and bequeath to my Daughter Katherine - McRae the
Plantation on which I now reside and on which the buildings are situate
also all that Tract of land known as the William Ammons tract. I also
Give and bequeath to my said Daughter Katherine the following negroes,
namely Mariah & her child Eliser and all their increase.
Item 2nd. I give and bequeath to my Grand Son John Calvin McRae all that
Taact of land which I bought from Hardy Graves adjoining the lands of
Neill Alford Daniel Melvin, I also give and bequeath to Said John Calvin McRae
the following negroes namely Peter & Harriett during his natural life and
Should the Said John Calvin McRae die without leaving any lawful children then
it is my wish & desire that the said land and negroes be return back to my
lawful Heirs.
Item 3rd, I Give & bequeath to my Daughter Nellie McKay wife of Archibald
McKay a negroe named Reeny and her two children namely Joe & Ann with all
their increase the rest of my Daughters namely Margeret McGill Isabella McRae
and Christian Carmichael having heretofore received by Deed of Trust, certain
negroes namely Margeret McGill Rachel, Isabella McRae
Hannah & Christian Carmichael Mahala.
Item 4th, I Give & bequeath to my Daughters after my- Death namely Margeret
McGill, Isabella McRae Nellie McKay Christian Carmichael & Catherine McRae
the following negroes namely
Jenny Charles Dick Daniel - Martha Amy Rose
Joe Mary Cade Archibald Nancy Allen & Dave said negroes to be equally
divided among my said Daughters also what other Property may be on hand after
my Death I wish to be equally divided among my Said Daughters except one
Bed & furniture and one Cow & calf which I wish my Executers hereinafter named
to give to my Grand Son John - Calvin McRae when he the said John Calvin McRae
Marris.

Item 5th, It is also my wish & desire before the division of my last named
negroes Namely Jenny Charles Dick Daniel Martha Amy Rose Joe Mary Cade Archibald
Nancy Allen & Dave among my Daughters and also before the Division of all my
perrishable Property - among my Said Daughters that all my Just Debts be Paid
out of the Same.
Lastly I Nominate& appoint my Son in law Archibald McKay and my worthy
friends James L. Alford & James McBryde Executors to this my last will &
Testament Hereby revoking all other wills by me heretofore made.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my Seal
