WILL OF
JAMES MOODY
State of South Carolina
In the name of God Amen, I James Moody of Marion District
and State aforesaid finding my bodily health failing but of sound mind and
memory. (blefsed be God) Do make and ordain this my Last Will and Testament,
in manner and form following. First I order my body to be decently buried
at the descretion of my Extr Herein after named, and all my just debts be
fully satisfied out of the whole of My estate Item I will and bequeth to
My Daughter Mary McDaniel one cow and calf to her and the ifsue of her body
forever Item I will & bequeth to my Daughter Elisa Williams the two cows
that She has had, with their increase, to her and the Ifsue of her body for-
ever Item I will and bequeath to my two single Daughtrs Caroline & Sophia
each two cows & calves to them and the lawfull ifsue of their bodys forever
Item It is my will that all my Negro property with the balance of my perishable
property not named above, be kept on the plantation for the use and benefit
of My Wife and unmarried Children until my youngest surviveing Child comes
to the age of twenty one years and then my Negro property be equally divided
between my wife and all my Children. Item I will and bequeath, that, My
Wife have the use of my dwelling house and fifty acres of Land adjoining
during her natural life Item I will and bequeath to my sons when the young-
est comes to the age of twenty one all of my Lands (including that portion
given to My Wife to be thiers at her death) Item I will and bequeath to my
wife & sons all the Horses Hogs & cattle remaining on the plantation when
my youngest child comes to the age of twenty one years Item It/ismy will that
the Negroes falling to the Share of my Wife at her death be divided equally
between my Children, Item It is my will that all the property falling to the
seperate Shares of each of My Daughters (viz) Mary McDaniel, Elenor, Wilkens,
Eliza Williams Martha Byham Caroline Moody, and Sophia Moody be given to them
& the lawful Ifsue of their bodys forever Lastly I constitute and appoint
Wm T Wilson Executor of this My last Will and Testament and I do hereby dis-
allow, disannul and revoke all and every other Testament, Will, Legacy, and
bequeast, or Executors by me heretofore named, willed, and Requeathed; Rati-
fying, and confirming this and no other to be my last Will, and Testament, in
witnefs whereof I have here unto Set my hand and Seal this ninth of June
