WILL OF
JAMES THOMPSON
In the name of God amen I James Thomson of Marion District and State of
South Carolina being weak in bod but of sound and disposing mind Memory
and understanding, thanks to Almighty God for the same, do make and de-
clare this to be My last will and Testament in manner and form following.
First after my decease I request my body to be decently intered at the des-
cretion of my Executors and all my just notes to be paid.
Item Unto my son Hugh Thomson, unto the children of John J. Thomson decd
unto the children of my decd daughter Elizabeth Muldrow and unto the children
of my decd daughter Sarah Askins, I give devise and bequeath the Several
portions of property which I have already given off to them, to be their
full share of my Estate both real and personal: To have and to hold to them
their heirs and afsigns forever.
Item Unto my Daughter Ann Thomson I give and bequeath the portion of proper-
ty which I have already given off to her, to be her full share of all my Es-
tate. to have and to hold to her, her heirs and afsigns forever.
Item Unto my wife.Hannah Thomson I give and devise a Tract of Land contain-
ing about one hundred acres, Situate, lying and being in the District of Ma-
rion & State of So. Ca., the said Tract being part of the Tract of Land on
which I now live and that part of it lying on the North side of the George-
town road and on whch my Dwelling and other houses are situated To have & to
hold to her during her lifetime. and remainder to my sons Cotesworth P. Thom-
son, Oliver H. P. Thomson. Edward F. Thomson. Saml W. Thomson. and Richard
H. Thomson to be equally divided between them, to have & to hold to them
their heirs and afsigns forever. Also unto my wife I give and bequeath one
Bed & the furniture of it and four Cows & Calves to have & to hold to her,
her heirs and afsigns forever. This portion of property which I have given
devided and bequeathed unto my wife Hannah Thomson shall be in lieu and in
satisfaction of Dower.
Item Unto my Daughter Deborah B. Grimsly I give and bequeath the one sixth
part of the remainder of my personal property to have and to hold to her and
the heirs of her body forever.
Item Unto my five youngest children vis Colesworth P. Thomson. Oliver H. P.

Thomson Edward F. Thomson Saml W. Thomson and Richard H. Thomson I give and
devise all my real Estate to be equally divided between To have & to hold
to them their heirs and afsigns forever; Also unto my sons Colesworth P.
Thomson, Oliver H. P. Thomson, Edward F. Thomson, Saml W. Thomson and Rich-
ard H. Thomson I give and bequeath all the rest residue and remainder of my
personal Estate to be equally divided between them To have & to hold to
them their heirs and afsigns forever. It is further my will and desire that
the my Executors do appropriate for the education of my sons Colesworth P.
Thomson. Oliver H. P. Thomson, Edward F. Thomson, Saml W. Thomson and Rich-
ard H. Thomson, so much of their property as they in their descretion shall
think proper.
And lastly I do nominate constitute and appoint-Hannah Thomson (my wife) and
Jeremiah H. Brown executors of this my last will and Testament. In Witnefs
whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal the eighth of March..Eighteen
hundred and twenty seven
