WILL OF BAKER WIGGINS

In the Name of God Amen I Baker Wiggins of the District of Marion being weak
and low in body but of sound disposing mind and memory do hereby ordain this
to be my last will and testament here by revoking all others which may have
been made by me at any time during my life.  In the first place I recommend
my body to be buried in a christian like manner humbly hoping and trusting
that it will be raised in the last day through the merits and atonement of
the great redeemer.  And as to the wordly goods with which it has pleased
God to bless me  I dispose of the same in the following manner.

In the first place I desire that all my Just debts be paid agreably to an
assignment made by me to Ricks B Wiggins and John Robinson as soon as can be
and that no division or distribution of my property shall take place until
my debts are all paid after which I give and bequeath to my son Ricks B
Wiggins his heirs and assigns all my lands on the North East side of Pee Dee
River commonly known by the name of Wiggins landing  Likewise all the land
on the South east side of Pee Dee River comprised within the following
boundaries Beginning at the River at the dividing line between myself and
Rawls a little distance above my bank on the river thence running South
Westwardly across Shingle Trees Sister to the distance of twenty five feet
beyond low water mark upon Sanders Ridge thence eastwardly to the
river bank down the side of the of the Sanders Ridge at the
distance of twenty five feet from low water mark of Shingle Trees Sister by
Toll Hale to the dividing line between myself and John Gibson thence
eastwardly to the river Bank  Also the following named negroes and their
increase Bill and Mose and her child Eliza Will and Harriet and her children
Sally and Rufus Tom and Hager and her child Melissa Tobe Lewis Solomon
Frasir and Dorcas

Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Sarah Lester for and during the term
of her natural life and at her death to such of her children or their issue
as shall survive her and in case the said Sarah Lester shall leave no child
surviving her then at her death to be divided among my surviving children
and their issue all the lands comprised within the following boundaries
commencing on the upper line Separating myself and Rawls within twenty five
feet of Shingle Trees Sister and continuing that line on Westwardly out near
Dorrell Hunter's Pawley old field Thence with the courses and variations of
the lines between me and Dorrell Hunter around on the lower side of Dorrell
Hunter's Plantation agreably to the Sanders line of the land which I last
purchased from John Gibson to a corner tree /near a
little beyond the Lucy Marsh from thence Eastwardly on a direct and
Straight line to and with the line seperating myself and Asa Hinds and John
Gibson to within twenty five feet of Shingle Trees Sister at R B Wiggins
line also the following named negroes & their increase Arthur and Jude and
her children York Mourning and George Jane Sarah and her child Elias Hale
Pris Joe Murrier and Dick

Item I give and bequeath to my son Samuel B Wiggins his heirs and assigns
forever the land comprised with line described as follows Beginning at the
Corner tree a little beyond the Lucy marsh where Sarah Lester's Stops at the
Corner between myself and Dorrell Hunter and the Sanders Corner from thence
running a westwardly course Continuing the lines that divide myself and
Dorrell Hunter to the Corner where myself Dorrell Hunter and Hugh E Cannon
Corners from thence Southwardly on the dividing line between myself and Hugh
E Cannon crossing the Back Swamp near Gibson's old ford and continuing with
the variations of the Same lines out to the Marrs Bluff Road cornering
opposite Mrs Garrett's house immediately on the road Side the dividing
corner between myself and Hugh E Cannon and John Gibson from thence
eastwardly on lines between John Gibson and me to a Lightwood Corner Stump
thence across the road towards John Gibson's Hatcher fields the Same lines
continuing round and down to John Gibson's ditch where there is a corner
from thence to the Road from thence up the road as far as the Corner of the
upper fence of the Avenue near the upper Gate Post thence a Straight and
direct line keeping the upper fence of the avenue which is on the west side
to the Burns of the Jim Parker field near the dwelling house thence from the
Burns to Crook west as the grove fence runs thence North coninuing the fence
to the foot of the Sand ridge where the fence turns west thence a Straight
line through Back Swamp to the Lucy gate of the Lucy field if such line
crosses Back Swamp on a little ridge where the fence crosses it so that a
road over the swamp may conveniently be made there if not the line must wind
with and as the fence now runs across the swamp About the gate of the Lucy
field you wile find the Later Line-thence along the Later line Eastwardly
until it strikes the dividing line between myself and asa Hinds from thence
Northwardly until it strikes the Sanders tract thence westwardly to the
beginning beyond the Lucy Marsh  Also the following named negroes and their
increase Simon and Cate and her children Josh Ansine Arnold Cleona Dennis &
Silas Elisha Lucy & Mack and Jerry with this provise as to Jerry that when
he becomes twenty one years of age he may hire himself at ten dollars a year
It is further my wile that the property herein bequeathed to my son Samuel
should remain in the hands of my sons Ricks and John after he becomes twenty
one years of age until he arrives at the age of twenty five during which
time Samuel shale be entitled to receive only the nett profits of it

Item  To my son John J Wiggins his heirs and assigns forever I give and
bequeath all of my High Lands that I have not given to Sauel said Lands
being comprised In lines described as follows commencing on the Marrs Bluff
road on the upper corner of the Avenue at Samuel's corner near the gatepost
and running down Samuel's line to John Gibson's line at a white oak tree
upon the side of an old ditch on the South Side of the Road thence running
with the variations and courses of the lines between me and John Gibson to
the middle of the Back Swamp around the plantation opposite Simon's Bottom
thence to take Cowford Slough (where Theophilus Wiggins shot the Buck) and
Henry's Camp the right hand Slough at the Cow path thence a straight line
out to the Later line striking the Later line four hundred yards west of the
Cabin Marsh thence turning  west the Later line to Asa Hinds line on the
Mumford ridge to Samuels corner thence with Samuels line to the beginning at
the Marrs Bluff road Also the following named negroes and their increase
Jack & Chloe and her two children Dave and Nancy Daniel and Ruth and her two
children Gilbert and Sue Sampson Hager's Rose and child Sarah Chuna
and Shine

Item I give and bequeath to my daughter Mary R. Wiggins for and during the
term of her natural life and at her death to /such of her children or
their issue as shall survive hersuch of her children or their
issue and in case the said Mary [3 words - unreadable] shall leave
no descendants then to be divided between my surviving children  All the
balance of my lands which are situated to the East of John's land and which
I have not mentioned before extending from the Middle of Back Swamp to the
River Also the following named negroes and their increase Ben and Milley and
her child Willie Phillis and her child Moses Sabra And her children Robert
and Prince Charlotte and her child William - Mood - Babe - Jude and Hager's
Milley and Shine

And I do hereby nominate constitute and Appoint Captain John Gregg of Marion
District and my son Ricks B Wiggins executors of this my last will And
testament - Given under my hand and seal this eleventh day of April in the
year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine and in the 53d
year of the Independence of the United States
