Mills BOYKIN to Lamuel BOYKIN, 1797

Know all men by these presents that I Mills Boykin of Marlborough County and state aforesaid planter for an in consideration of the sum of fifty Dollars to me paid by Lamuel Boykin of the county of Richmond and state in South Carolina have granted, bargained, sold and released, and by these presents do grant; bargain, sell and release, unto the said Lamuel Boykin his heirs and Assigns forever, a certain part or parcel of Land, containing seventy-nine acres more or less lying in the County aforesaid N.E. of Great Pee Dee, on the Reddy branch, being Tract of Land which was granted to the said Mills Boykin by Pinckney, and is laid out as Follows(Viz) Beginning at a Lightwood stake and running to a lightwood stake, Garners corner. Thence along William Listers line to a pine corner, thence along Thos Listers line to a pine, a corner tree thence along the said William Listers line to the Reddy Branch. Thence across the said branch running with McAlisters line to a stake corner, thence direct to the beginning for seventy nine acres be the same more or less. Together with all and singular, the rights members Hereditaments and appurtenances to the said premises belonging or in any wise incident or appertaining to have & to hold all and singular the premises before mentioned to the said Lamuel Boykin, his heirs Executors and Administrators to warrant and forever, defend all and singular the said premises to the said Lamuel Boykin, his heirs and assigns, against myself and my heirs, and against every person whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof.
Witness my hand and seal this fourth day of November in the year of our
Lord one thousand seven hundred and ninety seven and in the twenty first year of
the Independence of America.

Marlborough (District scratched out)County } one of the Justices of said
county Mr. John Campbell, who being duly sworn saith on his oath that he was present
and did see Mills Boykin, sign, seal and as his act and Deed, Deliver the within
instrument of writing to Lamuel Boykin for the use and purposes therein mentioned and that he
also saw William Rye sighn his mark to the same and subscribing witness with
himself, and that he also saw said Mills Boykin sign the receipt on the back of the same.

I Wm Easterling one of the Justices of the Quroum for the District
aforesaid, do hereby certify unto all whom it may concern that Hanaretta Boykin the wife
of the within named Mills Boykin did this day appear before me and upon being privately
and seperately examined by me did declare that she does freely voluntarily and
without any compulsion dread or fear of any person or persons whomsoever, renounce
release, and forever relinquish unto the within named Lamuel Boykin his heirs or assigns
all his interest and estate and also all her right and claim of dower of in or to
all, and singular the premises within mentioned and released.
Given under my hand and deal this 6th day of Augt. 1803
