THIS INDENTURE made this Eleventh day of July anno Domini one thousand seven
hundred and Eighty Eight And in the year of Independence of the United
States of America BETWEEN Willibay Broughton of South Carolina and in the
County of Marlbrough planter, of the one part and Frederick Johnston of the
line State and County aforesaid planter of the other part WITNESSETH That
the Said Willibay Broughton for and in consideration for the sum of fifteen
pounds Sterling to him in hand paid by the said Frederick Johnston at and
before the Ensealing and delivery of these presents the receipt whereof he
he the said Willibey Broughton doth hereby acknowledge and himself to be
therewith fully satisfied contented hereby acknowledge and himself to be
therewith fully satisfied contented and paid Hath bargained and Sold and by
these presents  doth bargain Sell and Confirm unto the Said Frederick
Johnston his heirs Isfsigns a Certain tract or parcel of land situate on the
north East side of great Pee dee river in the County Aforesaid containing
twenty seven acres be the same more or less, bounded as follows beginning at
a corner pine and running as the branch runs to the other line being part of
a track granted by his Excellency T rlliam? Moultrie Governor &c to the said
Willebey Broughton his heirs and afsigns by a deed of Grant bearing date the
fifth day of June having Such shapes forms marks buttings & boundings as is
represented by a plat then of annexed to the said Grant reference being had
may more fully appear TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said parcel of twenty seven
acres more or less, together with all and Singular the priviledges profits
improvements Hereditaments & appurtenances to the Same belonging or in any
wise appertaining to the said Frederick Johnston his heirs and afsings
forever, and the Said Willebey Broughton for himself and his heirs doth
covenant and agree with the said Frederick Johnston his heirs and afsigns
that the right and title of the land and Premises against all passions
whatsoever claiming or to claim in that may here after claim by through or
under him the said Willebey Broughton he and they will Warrant and by these
presents defend against any and all the Incumbances whatsoever from time to
time and at all times hereafter and that he will when requested make such
further conveyances and assurances as he or they or their Councel learn in
the law Shall advise or direct IN WITNESS whereof the said Willebey
Broughton have hereunto set his name and Seal the day and year fist above

MARLBOROUGH COUNTY     ) Before me William Easterling one of the Justices of
the peace for the County aforesaid Personally came Benjamin Herndon and
being duly Sworn made oath that he saw
Willibey Broughton Sign Seal and deliver this within Instrument of writing
to Frederick Johnston and that he likewise Saw Thos Huckeby & Charles
Huckeby afsigns their names with him as Witnesses to the Same. Sworn before
me this 21st day of Augt 1788

[Note: the spelling of Willebey/Willibey varied in spelling though out the
document. Some words were hard to dicipher, words with "?"spelling is
questionable. ]
