THIS INDENTURE made this fourteenth day of July in the year of our Lord
One Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety Four and of the Independence of the
United States of America the Nineteenth. BETWEEN REES LUKE of
Marlborough County and State of South Carolina of the one part and Robertson
Carloss of the County and State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the
said Rees Luke for and in consideration of the sum of Eighty pounds sterling
money of the State aforesaid to the said Rees Luke in hand paid by the said
ROBERTSON CARLOSS the receipt whereof the said Rees Luke doth hereby
acknowledge for himself, his heirs, Executors and Administrators fully satisfied,
contented and paid, hath Granted, bargained, sold, _______, ______ and
confirmed unto the said Robertson Carloss his heirs and assigns forever a certain
parcel or part of a tract of land containing One Hundred and Thirty three acres
it being the middle part of a tract of land containing Four Hundred acres Granted
unto John Luke by his Excellancy William Bull, Esquire, the fifteenth day of
September One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty Three and was conveyed
by the said JOHN LUKE unto ENOCH LUKE by Lease and Release bearing
date the second and third the second and third days of May in the year of our
Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and fifty seven and descends to the said
Rees Luke from the aforesaid Enoch Luke by Heirship the aforesaid Rees Luke
being son and heir of the said Enoch Luke lying and being in Marlborough
County in the Welch Tract on the North East side of Great Peedee River and
hath such shape, form and marked trees as appears by a platt to the original Grant
annexed, With the house, out houses, _____, waters, paths, passages, trees, fences,
Easements,Hereditaments and appurtanences whatsoever is the said One Hundred and
thirty three acres of Land belonging or in any wise appertaining, and the Revision
and Reversions, remainder and remainders, rents, issues and profits thereof and
every part and parcel thereof, and all the Estate right___________claim and
demand whatsoever both in Law and Equity of the said Rees Luke of in and
to the said premises and of every part and parcel thereof TO HAVE AND TO
HOLD the said One Hundred and Thirty thre acres of land and all and singular
the premises above mentioned with the appurtenances unto the said Robertson
Carloss, his heirs and assigns to the only proper usee and Behoof of him the said
Robertson Carloss, his heirs and assigns forever, and lastly the said Rees Luke
for himself and his heirs, the said one hundred and thirty three acres of Land and
all and singular the premises above granted with the appurtenances unto the said
Robertson Carloss and his heirs against all persons whatsoever shall and will
Warrant and forever defend. IN WITNESS whereof the said Rees Luke hath
hereunto set his hand and affixed his seal the day and year first above written
