THIS INDENTURE made the third day of May in the thirty first year of the reign
of our Sovereign Lord George the Second by the grace of God of Great Britain,
France and Ireland King defender of the faith, etc.: and in the year of our Lord God
One thousand Seven hundred & fifty seven. VIZ Between John Luke of the Welch
Tract in the county of Craven and province of South Carolina, planter of the one
part, and Enoch Luke of the same place, planter of the other part, Witnesseth that
said John Luke for & in consideration of the sum of one Hundred pounds Current
money of South Carolina to him in hand paid by him the said ENOCH LUKE, at
& before the ensealing and delivery of these presents the Receipt whereof he the
said John Luke doth hereby acknowledge, hath bargained and sold, & by these
presents doth bargain & sell unto Enoch Luke, his heirs and assigns one hundred
and thirty three acres of Land, being the Middle part of a four hundred acre Tract
which was Granted to John Luke by his Excellancy William Bull, Esq. the fifteenth
day of September One Thousand Seven Hundred & forty three; and hath such
shape , form & marks as appears by a platt thereof to the Original Grant Annexed.
Together with all & singular all the houses, out houses, Buildings, fencings,
Gardens, orchards, Rivers, Lakes, Ponds, fishings, marshes, Waters & water
courses, woods & under woods, Timber& Timber trees, pastures, feedings, profits,
commodities, advantages, Hereditaments, and appurtenances & whatsoever there
unto belonging or in any wise appertaining TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the said
Tract of one Hundred and thirty three acres of Land & all & singular the premises
herein Mentioned or thereunto belonging and Intended to be hereby Bargained
and Sold & every part & parcel thereof with their and every of their appertinances
unto the said Enoch Luke, his heirs, Executors, administrators and assigns from
the day next before the date hereof, for & during the term of one whole year from
thence next insuing in & fully to be completed and ended, yielding & paying
therefore unto John Luke aforesaid, his heirs or assigns the rent of one pepper corn
on the last day of the term only if the same be Lawfully Demanded to the Intent
and pruposes that he the said Enoch Luke by virtue hereof & by force of the Statute
for Transferring of uses into possession may be in the actual possession of all &
Singular the said premises herein before Mentioned & intended to be hereby
bargained & Sold and every part & parcel thereof with their and every of their
appurtinances, and may be enabled hereby to except and take a Grant and Release
of the Revision and Reversions, and Inheritance of the same premises to the said
Enoch Luke, his Heirs and Assigns forever.
IN WITNESS whereof he the said JOHN LUKE hath hereunto set his hand and
Affixed his seal the day and year first above Written.

SOUTH CAROLINA } Before me Alexander Macintosh one of his
CRAVEN COUNTY } Majesties' Justices of the Peace, Personally
appeared Thomas Edward & who being duly
Sworn on the Holy Evangelist sayeth that
he saw John Luke sign, seal, and as his act
and deed Deliver unto Enoch Luke the within
Instrument of Writing for the use, intent and
purposes that is therein mentioned and that
at the same time he saw Elizabeth Harry by
her mark sign her name to it as the other
Evidence.
