DANIEL LUKE, JR. DEEDS RECORDED AUGUST 21st, 1804
State of South Carolina, Marlboro District
Know all men by these presents that I Daniel Luke of the district and state aforesaid,
planter , for and in consideration of the sum of ten dollars to me in hand paid by John
Rogers of the said state and district, planter. have granted, bargained, sold and released
and by these presence do bargain, sell and release unto the said John Rogers all that
parcel or tract of land lying in the Welch Tract in Marlborough District containing one
hundred acres, being part of a tract of Land originally Granted to Benjamin Rogers by
his Excellancy James Glen, Esq, bearing date the fourth day of July in the year of our
Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty nine, and conveyed by the said Benjamin
Rogers to Daniel Luke, Senior by lease and release, bearing date the twenty third day
November in the year of our lord one thousand seven hundred and fifty seven, and fell to
Daniel Luke, Junior by heirship buting and bounding the S.W. on PeeDee river and
vacant lands, to the N.W. on Wm. Hughes Land, and Wm. Smith's land, to the N.E. on
said Smith's and vacant lands, and to the S.E. on John Luke's land, and hath such
shapes, forms and marks as appears by a plat thereof the Original Annexed whereby ?
relation? thereunto being had doth more fully appear-------.(sic)
Also a tract of Land containing thirty acres being part of the above named tract of Land
originally granted to Benjamin Rogers by his Excellancy James Glen, Esq. bearing date
the fourth day of July in the year of our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Forty
Nine, and conveyed from David Harry to Daniel Luke, Senior by lease and release
bearing date the fifth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand Seven
Hundred and Seventy two, and conveyed to the said Daniel Luke, Junior by Heirship,
together with all and singular the rights, Members and Hereditaments, and appurtances to
to the said premises belonging or in any wise appertaining to have and to hold all and
singular the premises before mentioned unto the said John Rogers, his heirs and assigns
forever, and I do hereby bind myself , my heirs, executors and administrators to warrant
and forever defend all and singular the said premises unto the said John Rogers, his heirs
and assigns against myself, my heirs, and assigns, and against every person whomsoever
lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof.
In witness whereof I have hereuto set my hand and affixed my seal the Eighteenth day of
August in the year of our Lord One Thousand Eight Hundred and Four and in the twenty
ninth year of the Independence of United States of America.

Personally came before me Wm. H. Pledger one of the Justices for the District
aforesaid, David Harry, who being duly sworn maketh oath that he was present and did
see Daniel Luke, sign, seal, as his act Deliver the within instrument of writing to the
within named John Rogers, for the uses and purposes therein mentioned.

STATE OF SOUTH CAROLINA, MARLBOROUGH DISTRICT
Know all men by these presents that I Daniel Luke of the District and State aforesaid,
planter, for and in consideration of the sum of ten dollars to me in hand paid by John
Rogers of the said State and District Have granted, bargained, sold, and released and by
these presents doth Grant, Bargain, sell and release all that parcel or tract of land
containing two Acres lying in the Welch (sic) Tract, it being part of a tract of land
containing four hundred acres Granted to Benjamin Rogers by his Excellancy James
Glenn, Esq. and by different Transfer to John Dyer, Schoolmaster, of the State and
District aforesaid Sold by the said John Dyer to the Father of the above named Daniel
Luke. Together with all and singular the rights, Members, hereditaments and appurtances
to the said premises belonging or in any wise Appertaining. To have and to hold all and
singular the premises before mentioned unto the said John Rogers.
In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand & affixed my seal this 18th day of
August in the year of our Lord 1804 and in the twenty ninth year of the Independence of
the United States of America.
