Ephram WHITTINGTONState of South Carolina
Marlborough CountyKnow all men by these presents that I Moses Pearson of the State and County aforesaid and commensurate of the sum of seventy five pounds sterling money to me paid by Ephram Whittington of the county aforesaid, I have granted and bargained sold & released & by these presents do grant bargain sell & release unto this Ephram Whittington a certain piece of property or parcel of land containing fifty four acres being part of a tract containing 710 acres granted to this Moses Pearson by William Moultrie Esquire this 5th day of January 1787 & the fifty four acres being the lower part of the said 710 acre tract known by the name "Falks Old Field". Together with all and singular the rights members heridetaments & appertenances to this premises belonging or in any wise incident or appertaining. To have and to hold all and singular the premises before men bound unto the said Ephraim Whittington his heirs and assigns forever and I do hereby bind any of my heirs, Executors and Administrators, to warrant & forever defend all and singular the said premises unto the said Ephraim Whittington his heirs and assigns against one of my heirs & against every person or persons whomsoever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof.
Witness my hand and seal this twenty third day of June in the year of our Lord one thousand and seventeen and ninety eight and in the 22nd year of the Independence of the United States of America.

Marlborough DistrictPersonally appeared Henry Hodges before William Whitfield, one of the Justices as to keep the Peace said county who being duly sworn on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God & sayeth that he saw Moses Pearson
Sign seal deliver the written instrument of writing to Ephraim Whittington for the else purposes there in mentioned & hath swore he saw Peggy Pearson sign her name the same time as another subsequent day.
