State of South Carolina
Know all men by these presents that I Anthony Pouncey of Charleston District of
Saint Bartholomew Parish in the State of aforesaid, planter in consideration
of the sum of one hundred pounds sterling to me in hand paid by Moses Pearson Esq.
Of the County of Marlborough in the state aforesaid have Granted, Bargained, Sold
and Released and by these presents; do Grant, Bargain, Sell and Release unto the
said Moses Pearson Esq. all that tract or parcel of land containing two hundred
acres more or less granted by his Excellency William Bull Esq., Lieutenant Governor
of said province to Anthony Pouncey bearing date this thirteen day of July one
thousand seven hundred and seventy situated lying and being in the County of
Marlborough on the N. East side of the Great Pee Dee River bounding S. Eastward on
Isaac Nicholson land N. Eastward and South on John Freeman's land S. westward on
land granted to Andrew Sean north west on land granted to Anthony Pouncey and hath
such shape form and mark as appears by a Platt thereof to the original grant annex
together with All and Singular the Rights heriditaments and appartanances; to the
said premises belonging or in any wise Incident or appertaining;To have and to hold
All and Singular the premises before mentioned unto the said Moses Pearson Esq. his
heirs and assigns forever, and hereby bind myself my heirs Executors and administrators
to warrant and forever defend All and Singular the said premises unto the said
Moses Pearson Esq. his heirs and assigns, against myself and my heirs and against
every person who so ever lawfully claiming or to claim the same or any part thereof;
Witness my hand and seal this twelfth day of March in the Year of Our Lord, One
Thousand Seven Hundred and Ninety six and in the twentieth year of the Independence
of the United States of America.
Test: Tabetha Derby Anthony Pouncey
Received this 12th of March 1796 of Moses Pearson one
hundred pounds being the full consideration money as witness my hand
Test: James Pouncey
South Carolina ] Personally appeared before me, Jack Winfield one of the
Marlborough County] Justices of the Peace for the county aforesaid W. James Pouncey
and made oath on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God that he was present and saw
Anthony Pouncey sign, seal, and deliver the instrument of writing to Moses Pearson for
the use and purpose witness mentioned and also saw Tabitha Darby and Ann Pouncey sign
as witness with him to the same.
