James Cook, 74, decorated veteran
Bennettsville--Services for James P "JP" Cook, 74, will be at 4pm today at Whitner-Evans Funeral Home, with burial in Sunset Memorial Park with Masonic rites. Memorials may be made to Thomas Memorial Baptist Church.
Mr Cook died Wednesday, Oct 5 1994. Born in Dillon County, he was a son of the late Floyd Allen Cook and Melinda Cain Cook. He retired as an agent with Independent Life Insurance Co., was an Army veteran of World War II and received a Purple Heart. He was a member of Thomas Memorial Baptist Church, Bennettsville Chapter of VFW, Marlboro Masonic Lodge 88 AFM and Marlboro Shrine Club.
Surviving are his wife, Thelma Wyatt Cook; daughters, Gwinn Cook of Cheraw and Teresia Case of Anderson; brothers, Clyde and Calvin Cook, both of Conway; and sisters, Mildred and Shirley Edwards, both of Conway, and Betty Harmon of Columbia.
