Robertson Carloss, 1825

Below is the text of the will of Robertson Carloss, transcribed by me from the WPA microfilm in the Dallas Public Library. I descend from his daughter Amelia Carloss who married Benjamin David, Jr. I copied the will exactly, including the misreading of Carloss as Carlofs and the erratic capitalization.

Will of Robertson Carlofs

I Robertson Carlofs of Marborough District and State of South Carolina
do make constitute and ordain this My Last Will and Testament That is to
Say it has been my lot in life through unforeseen contingencies not to realize
more than sufficiency if that Much to pay all my Just Debts and it being
right & Just to appoint some fit & proper persons to execute all such
matters and things Relative to my Estate for the benefit of my creditors and
Heirs. I do appoint Benjamin David my son in law and Robertson A.
Carlofs my son and my friend Peter Cogesshall Executors of this my Last
Will and Testament revoking all former wills by me here to fore made.
In Testamony whereof  I have hereto set my hand and seal the Eighteenth
day of December in the year of our Lord One Thousand eight hundred
and  (turn over) twenty-five.
