Will Book "A", pages 87-89

In the name of God Amen. I Mary B. Davis, being Weak in Body but of Sound and Disposing Mind and Memory do make publish and declare this my last Will and Testament in manner and form following.

First. I desire that all my just debts be paid, and my Funeral Expences.

Item. I give and bequeath to my Son JOHN GRAHAM BRITTON all the monies he may be indebted to me at my death, either by note or hand or otherwise---------

Item. I give and bequeath to my son FRANCIS BRITTON all the monies he may be indebted to me at my death either by note or hand or otherwise----

Item. I give and bequeath to JOHN GRAHAM BRITTON a note of hand on HENRY DAVIS, for the use of him and his heirs forever

Item I give and bequeath to JOHN GRAHAM BRITTON the use of my negroe JOE during his natural life, and at his death, it is my will and Desire that the said negro JOE sold, and the Money arising from the Sale be equally divided amongst the lawful issue of his Body---

Item. I give and bequeath to JOHN GRAHAM BRITTON and FRANCIS BRITTON during their natural life the use of the following Six Negroes. To Wit. NANNY, ANTRIM, PHILANDER, PETER, PINNAH, and BILLY and their increase, to be equally divided betwixt them, and at their death it is my Will & Desire that the aforesaid Negroes be equally divided amongst their lawful issue, that part whose use is allotted to JOHN W. BRITTON to be divided amongst his isfue, and that part allotted to FRANCIS BRITTON to his issue----

Item. It is my Will & Desire that my Horse & Chais and all my Household Furniture be Sold, and the money arising from the sale to be laid out in the Education of my Grand son ABRAHAM BRITTON----

Item. I give and bequeath to my sons JOHN GRAHAM BRITTON

and FRANCIS BRITTON and my Daughter SARAH HAND, a note of hand on PAUL TRAPIER for One Hundred Pounds Sterling, to be divided amongst them in following manner. To JOHN GRAHAM BRITTON I give Fifty pounds, to FRANCIS BRITTON I give twenty four pounds and to my Daughter SARAH HAND I give Twenty five pounds together with the interest that may accrue on each of those sums at the time of payment.

Item. I give & Bequeath to my Daughter SARAH HAND all my wearing apparel----

Lastly, It is my Will and I hereby nominate Constitute and appoint my two Sons JOHN GRANHAM [GRAHAM] BRITTON and FRANCIS BRITTON and my friend JOHN DOSIER Executors to this my last Will and Testament, and I do hereby Revoke and make Null & Void all former Wills by me at any time made, declaring this and this only to be my last Will and Testament

In Witness Whereof I hereunto set my Hand and Seal this eighteenth day of February in the Year of our Lord One Thousand Eight hundred and Fourteen, and in the Thirty Eighth year of the Independence of the United States of America----

Sealed published and Declared by the Said MARY B. DAVIS the Testator as her last Will and Testament, in the presence of us who have subscribed as Witnesses hereunto in presence of said Testator and in the presence of each other as also to the subjoined Codicil---

I declare this Codicil to this my last Will to be apart of the same for the purpose of altering the third Item and fourth demising clause, It is my will and desire that the Note of hand on HENRY DAVIS Mentioned within Shall at my death go to my Grandson DANIEL BRITTON and I hereby give and

Bequeath the said Note of hand to my Grandson DANIEL BRITTON & his Heirs forever. And I hereby make Null and Void the third item aforementioned---
