In the name of God Amen.
I JOHN EVANS of Marlborough District in the State of South Carolina. Being Sick and weak of body but of sound mind, memory, and understanding, do make and publish this my last Will and Testament, of such worldly affairs as it hath pleased God to bless me, in manner and form following: that is to say,
Item 1st. I give and bequeath unto my Wife ELEANOR EVANS three negroes, JACK, a boy, and NANCE and MARGARET, Girls, and their increase, during her life; and at her death; I give and bequeath them to my son THOMAS A. EVANS, his heirs and assigns, my said wife ELEANOR EVANS paying one third my Just debts.
Item 2nd. I give and bequeath to my son JOHN EVANS, two negroes, namely PEG, and ROSE, to him and his heirs forever, I also give and bequeath to my son JOHN EVANS one Bay mare about six years old; my said son JOHN EVANS paying one third of my Just debts.
Item 3rd. I give and bequeath unto my said son THOMAS A. EVANS three Negroes namely, BEN a man, VINER, a woman, and JACOB, a boy, them and their increase to him and his heirs forever. I also give to my Son THOMAS EVANS one Sorrel Horse one feather Bed and its furniture, the whole of stock of hogs and my household and Kitchen furniture, he paying the third of my Just debts. and I do hereby constitute and appoint my sons JOHN and THOMAS A. EVANS and MORGAN G. BROWN Executors of this my last Will and Testament hereby revoking all others either verbal or written; My son THOMAS paying the sums hereinafter mentioned.
Item 4th. I give and bequeath unto the lawfull heir or heirs of my daughter SARAH DAVID, deceased, as her and their full share of my Estate, the sum of Twenty dollars to be paid him or them by my son THOMAS A. EVANS, on the first day of May next.
Item 5th. I give and bequeath unto my son WILLIAM EVANS deceased, his heirs and assigns the sum of twenty dollars as his or their full share or portion of my Estate to be paid them by my son THOMAS A. EVANS, on the first day of May next. In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this Twentieth day of August, in the year of our Lord One thousand eight hundred & Eighteen.
