WILL OF JOSIAH EVANS In the name of God Amen, I Josiah Evans of the State of South Carolina and County of Marlborough being very sick and weak in body, but thanks be to God of perfect mind and memory & calling to mind the mortality of my body do make and ordain this my last Will and testament, that is to say as touching such worldly estate which it has pleased God to blefs me with in this life, I give demise and dispose of the same in the following manner & form. First. I give and bequeath unto the Baptist church of Christ in the Welsh neck the sum of three pounds Sterling, to be paid on demand after my Just debts are discharged. Secondly. I give and bequeath unto my beloved wife Catherine after all my just debts and the legacy left to the Baptist church above mentioned are paid, one third part of my estate (that is to say) one third part of all my lands during her life, and one third of all my personal estate to her own use and behoof forever. Thirdly. Also I give and bequeath unto my beloved daughter Hannah after all my just debts and the aforementioned legacy to the Baptist church are discharged, One other third part of all my real & personal estate to her and her heirs forever. Fourthly. likewise I give and bequeath unto the child with which my beloved wife is now pregnant with all the remaining ["third" written between lines.] part of my real & personal estate if it should be born alive, and arrive if a male to the age of twenty one years, or of a female to the age of eighteen, or be married, to him or her & his or her heirs forever, But if said child of which my wife is now pregnant should be still born or should die before it arrives to the years aforesaid, then & in that case, the third part bequeathed to it as Just mentioned I give and bequeath to my beloved wife Catherine and my daughter Hannah in the following manner, that is to say, one half of that third part of the land to my beloved wife Cath- WILL OF JOSIAH EVANS PAGE 2 erine during her life, and the half of said third part of the personal estate to her and her heirs forever, and the other half of said part both real & personal to my beloved daughter Hannah, Hannah, to her and her heirs forever, moreover after the decease of my beloved wife Catherine the above lands left to her to be equally divided between my daughter Hannah and the child my wife is now pregnant with, to them and their heirs forever, The division of the above mentioned Several parts is left to the discretion of my executors, hereafter mentioned. Fifthly. And lastly I do nominate make and ordain my beloved friends Thomas Evans, Evander McIver, Edward Edwards and John James Executors of this my last Wiill and Testament Revoking and renouncing all former wills whatever.
