The Will of ELIZABETH and ISABELLA McLEOD Recorded in Will Book A, page 174, Case 1, Box 21. Recorded on the 21st day of March, 1831, Wm. Easterling, Ordinary of Marlborough District. _____________________________________________________________________ In the Name of God Amen We Isabella and Elizabeth McLeod of Marlborough District and State of South Carolina --- revoking all others appoint this to be our last will & testament. We give to our beloved Nephew Daniel McLeod Negro Olley (or Olive) and her children, to wit Rose, Marvel, Surena and Jude We give to B. Ann Bodeford one half of our cattle (to wit) Cows & Sheep also one half of the House hold furniture & Clothes we may die pofsefsed of --- witnefs our hands & Seal this 4th March 1819 her Elizabeth X McLeod (Seal) mark her Isabella X McLeod (Seal) mark Signed Sealed & declared in presence of --- Alex. r. Peterkin Elaner Evans Jesse Peterkin _____________________________________________________________________ Elizabeth & Isabella McLeod were John’s McLeod sisters who came to North Carolina to raise John and Jane Hunter McLeod’s three orphaned children. Alexander R. Peterkin, Daniel McLeod’s wife’s step-father Eleanor Evans, Daniel McLeod’s sister-in-law, Catherine Evans McLeod’s sister. Jesse Peterkin, Catherine Evans McLeod’s half-brother. Daniel McLeod’s wife was Catherine Evans. Her mother, Elizabeth Vining, (1762-1833) married William Evans, and after he died married Alexander R. Peterkin. Catherine is related to all of the signed witness, listed above. Isabella McLeod, sister to Daniel McLeod, married Aaron Bodiford (Bodeford) in 1816.
