I CHRISTIAN McRAE of the district of Marlboro and state of South Carolina, being of sound mind and memory, but considering the uncertainty of my earthly existence do make and declare this my last will and testament, in manner and form following, that is to say: first - that my Executors (hereinafter named) shall provide for my body a decent burial, suitable to the wishes of my relatives and friends and pay all funeral expenses together with my just debts, howsoever & to whomsoever owing out of the monies that may first come into the hands as a portion or parcel of my estate.
Item – I give and devise to my beloved daughter CATHERINE McRAE fifty acres of land to be Set out by metes and bounds in that place and side of the tract whereon I now live, so as to include my mansion house all out houses and other improvements to have and to hold to her the said CATHERINE McRAE during the term of her natural life then to revert to my heirs in general.
Item – My Will and desire is that all the residue of my Estate both real and personal be equally divided among my other children to be holden by them absolutely & in fee simple forever with the exception of my negro boy CHRISTOPHER, whom I have gifted to MARGARET McRAE the wife of my son DUNCAN McRAE, and now to execute this my last Will and Testament, I do hereby constitute and appoint my trusty friend and nephew JAMES McRAE (son of my brother) JOHN McRAE my lawful executors to all intents and purposes to execute this my last will and testament according to the truest intent and meaning of the same, and every part and clause thereof appointed hereby revoking and declaring utterly void, (the aforenamed of it excepted) all other Wills, Testaments, deeds or of trust &c by me heretofore made, In witnefs whereof I the said CHRISTIAN McRAE do hereunto set my hand and Seal this the 1st day of January A.
