State of South Carolina Marlborough District In the name of God Amen. I Alexander Peterkin of Marlborough district in the said state feeling it to be an imperious duty as to dispose (?) of my estate as to make provision for those, for whom I am bound by the laws of nature to provide, do make ordain and publish this as my last will and testament, in manner following VIZ first. I give and devise (?) unto my natural sons, James Peterkin and Jefse Peterkin, the sons of Elizabeth Evans late wife of William Evans, and to their heirs, all my real estate to be equally divided between. And if either of them should die without leaving ifsue of his body living at the time of his death then the survivor is to have the whole. And if both the said James and Jefse should die with out leaving ifsue so living then I give and devic (?) the said real estate to my natural daughter Susan Bridges wife of James D Bridges Secondly. As to the personal estate whereof I may die pofsefsed, my will and desire is that the same shall be equally divided between my said natural children James Peterkin Jefse Peterkin and Susan Bridges and if either of them should die without leaving ifsue living at the time of his or ___(?) death then the part or portion of the one so dying shall go and belong to the survivor or survivors Thirdly. As to the real and personal estate herein given to my said daughter Susan Bridges my will and desire is that the same shall ____on (?) and belong to her for her sole and private (?) use free from the debts and contracts of her husband for and during the term of her natural life only. And after her death to be equally divided among her children if any and offspring (?) shall leave (?) in children living at the time of her death. Then the said estate shall be equally divided between her brothers the said James and Jefse or their legal descendants (?) Lastly. I nominate constitute and approve my said sons James and Jefse Peterkin equally (?) my son in law James D. Bridges Executors of this my last will and testament. In writing ____ of I have here unto set my hand this 5th day of August Anno Domini 1829 Signed, published Alexander Peterkin by the said Alexander Peterkin as his last will and testament in the Moses E. Coxe presence of us who have Wiley W. Jones attested the same in Colin MacRae his presence. State of South Carolina Marlborough District By William Easterling, Ordinary of said District Personally appeared before me Moses E Coxe and Wiley M Jones, who being duly sworn on the Holy Evangelist of Almighty God, doth make oath and say that they saw Alexander Peterkin sign, publish this written instrument of writing as and for his last will and Testament that to the said Alexander Peterkin was then of sound and disposing mind, memory and understanding to the best of the deponents knowledge and belief and that Colin MacRae, together with the deponents signed his name as a witnefs ___ to at the request and in the presence of the Testator and in the presence of each other at the same time ______ James Peterkin and Jefse Peterkin Given under my hand this seventh day of September in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and twenty nine.
