I, JESSE PETERKIN, do hereby make and declare this my last will and Testament, in manner and form as follows:

I give and bequeath to my wife MARY ANN PETERKIN my grey horse, saddle and bridle; also the Sum of Seven hundred Dollars to be paid to her by my executors, hereinafter named in Three equal annual installments, The first of which is to be made on the first day of January eighteen hundred and forty six.

It is my will and desire That my plantation be kept up and a competent overseer be employed by my executors to attend to the same.

It is my will and desire That all my property remaining as a common stock for the education and maintainance of my children, against whom no separate charge shall be made for necessary expenses.

It is my will and desire, That as each of my children arrives at the age of twenty one, or if either of my daughters should marry before arriving at such age my executors shall proceed to appraise all of my property and allot to such child or children, his or her equal portion of my estate each balance or my property after such apportionment remaining as a common stock, until the whole shall have been equally divided among all my children.---

It is also my will and desire that if any of my children should die without issue That then such portion of my property as may have been allotted to such child or children shall return to my estate and be divided between my other children and the heirs of their body; and if all of my children should die without issue it is my desire that my estate go to my next kin.

I hereby appoint JAMES PETERKIN, DUNCAN D McRAE and ALEXANDER THOMAS, Executors of This my last Will and testament. In Testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this the seventh day of July in the Year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and forty four.
