Conveyance, Herbert Hammond to Mary S. McGill:

Signed 12 March 1858, Recorded 20 June 1858.
This indenture made this twelfth day of March in
the year of our Lord One
Thousand Eight Hundred and fifty eight between Herbert Hammond Esquire,
Ordinary of the District aforesaid and Mary S. McGill of the same State
and
District. Whereas a ____(?) of Hammonds to divide or sell a certain
Tract of
land hereinafter described of the Estate of William McGill issued from
the
Court of Ordinary of Said District and upon the action thereof of the
Judge
of the Said Court did determine that the said land could not be divided
without injury to the parties interested and did order the same to
be sold by
the Sheriff of the District aforesaid on a credit of six months.
Whereupon
the Sheriff aforesaid did advertise the said land for sale on the first
Monday in July 1855. And whereas the Sheriff aforesaid did on
the said day
aforesaid expose to sale at public outcry on the credit aforesaid.
Said land
when Mary S. McGill was the last and highest bidder to whom the said
land was
struck off for the sum of Two Hundred and twenty four dollars to me
paid the
receipt whereof; I have granted, bargained sold and released and by
these
presents do grant bargain sell and release to the said Mary S. McGill
and her
heirs forever all that Tract of land situate in Anderson District on
the
Waters of the Big Generostee Creek: bounded by George Stevenson, William
Jones and others and containing Fifty Three acres more or less with
the
appurtanences thereto belonging and all the Estate right Title interest
claim
and a ______(?) & which William McGill deceased at the time of
his death fad
in or to the same. To Have and to hold...Improvements and appurtanances
to
the said Mary S. McGill and her heirs and assigns forever. In
witness
whereof I the said Herbert Hammond, and as Ordinary aforesaid, Have
hereunto
set my hand and seal this the day and year above mentions. Signed
Sealed and
Delivered. S/ Herbert Hammond. In the presence of A. O.
Norris, S. H.
McGill. Personally appeared Samuel H. McGill and made oath tat
he did see
Herbert Hammond Ordinary of Anderson District sign seal and as his
act
deliver the within deed for the use and purpose within mentioned and
that A.
O. Norris with himself a subscribing witness to the same sworn to and
subscribed this twelvth day of March A. D. 1858. S/ S.
