Last Will and Testament of Hiram Howard, recorded in Will Book ___
on pages 324-327

Anderson District
I Hiram Howard of the District and State aforesaid knowing the all
men must die and being with ___ years and being desirious that the
small estate which God has blessed me with shall be so unnecessary ______to
division do therefore make this my last wills and Testaments.
1st I will that at my death that my Executors have my body decently
buried at my family
burying ground near my dwelling, and my Soul
to God who gave it with a hope of a
Blessed immortality through my Lord and Savior
Jesus Christ.
2. I will and bequeath to my dutiful wife Sarah Howard my plantation
whereas I live to have unmolested possession during her life, I also give
to my wife the following personal property one negras woman Hana(?), 1
yoke of steers 1 bay mare Calesa Lizo 1 three year old filly called Fran
all the household and kitchen furniture that in her judgement she may need,
also two c___ ___ first choice also such of my Stack H___s
as she may wish to keep. I desire that my grandsons Daniel H. Howard
and Taylor Howard shall live with my wife and be to her dutiful children
as they have been to me. I direct that all the residue of my Estate
of ____ ____ be sold by my executor and divided among the following
children John Howard, Dudly Howard, Barbary Herrin, George Howard and the
children of Hiram Howard deceased also Patsey Teet wife of William Teat
to kept in trust by my executor for her use.
3. I will that the death of my wife Sarah Howard that all my Estate
left to her shall be sold by my Executor and divided as follows first to
my two grandsons Daniel H. Howard and Taylor Howard shall receive the sum
of Fifty dollars each over and above their share coming to them in right
of their Father also one years tuition and Board at Schools if they stay
with the grandmother and are dutiful boys. I give and bequeath to
my Daughter in law Sarah Howard widow of Hiram Enos Howard dec'd The sum
of two dollars as her entire Share That I instruct her to have of my Estate
all the balance of the Estate left to wife shall be divided as follows
in Equal Share to George Howard John Howard Dudly Howard Barbary Hirrin
Patsy Teat to kept in trust for her use and the use of her children at
her death. I appointed Dudly C. Howard trustee for Patsey Teat, also
the children of Hiram Howard Dec'd ___ entitled to the share of their Fathers
Estate as if he was living.
4. I will that what funds I have in money or notes be left at interest
by my _____for the use of my wife Sarah Howard and that ___ inacted to
pay over to her from time such sums as may be necessary for her ___.
I duly nominate and appoint my Son Dudly C. Howard my Sole Executor
of this my last will and testament. In testimony whereof I have here
unto set my hand and seal in the presence of the witnesses and the witnesses
in my presence of this Second day of September in the year of our Lord
one thousand Eight Hundred and fifty nine and 84th of American Independence
___ ___ made before signing.
