GEDCOM is the GEnealogical Data COMmunication standard that was established by the Family History Department of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It's recommended that you reference the Wikipedia Encyclopedia webpage at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GEDCOM for a detailed explanation of what a database of this type actually represents.
Because a GEDCOM Database CAN NOT NORMALLY BE POLICED, its content will be incomplete, contain inaccuracies and typo errors. Attempting to make permanent record changes to a GEDCOM Database, is beyond its manager's ability. Correct or incorrect records, will simply continue to be merged into this database - without the manager's knowledge.
ALL INFORMATION ( Names, Places, Events & Dates ) contained within a GEDCOM Database, is considered to be Public Domain Information by our Federal Government. Therefore, you can not legally block any of this information from public viewing - whether it's right or wrong. It should be noted that the following webpage information has been donated to a Upstate SC GenWeb Project. It simply represents a printing of Herman's database dated 31-Dec-2004. Since it's a donated historical record, the Project will not normally be making any changes to it.
Herman Geschwin is now deceased and his database file dated 01-Dec-2006, appears to be his last issue. The Old Pendleton District Genealogy Society has decided to manage Herman's 18-year labor-of-love. When this database is available for downloading, instructions will be provided here for doing such.
(The database downloading and importing process will probably take you 2+ hours using DSL. The file will also require 100MB of hard disk storage. It's possible that this database will be offered on a For-Sale CD.)
