Population

    Elgin is a small town but growing. In 1962 there was less than 100 people in the town limits when they voted to change the name from Blaney to Elgin. In 1990 the population of Elgin was 622 people. Growing, in 1995, the town limit population went up a little to 759. Then in 1998, the population again boosted up to 2106. The big growth is in 2001. It went up to 6935. Being close to Columbia, the population is intended to grow and grow.
