LEADINGHAM I am researching my ancestral home of Oak Grove Plantation, built around 1764-1772 in Camden district, probably current Lexington County, SC. The ancestral home was built by William Ledenhem/Leadenham/Ledingham/Ledingham, my 4th great grand father. I do know that his son William lived there after his father's death in 1785, and his son Jacob Henry inherited Oak Grove in 1832. No information as to the location except it should be around Tom's Creek that flows into the Congaree River west of present Day Columbia, S.C. I also have surnames of Hamilton, Adkins, Burgess, Wells, Robinson, Stewart and other allied families of Virginia and eastern Kentucky that I will share information. (9/9/97) Paul Leadingham

I have over 15,000 of my Leadenham/Leadingham and allied families computerized. I started with William Leadenham who came into the port of Charleston in 1764 and received a land grant from King Charles, II. One grant was for 150 acres on Tom's Creek . Tom's Creek by today's map would be about 12 miles south of Columbia. I am still looking for the children of William and Elizabeth, I believe her maiden name is Stafford, for in 1785 at the death of William she went back to live with the Stafford family. They had one son I know of which is Stafford who went to Kentucky with his son Peter Leadenham that married Sarah Hamilton. Need to find all the children of my original William Leadenham that I believe came over from Leadenham, England in 1764. (1/15/97) Paul Leadingham
