  This remote landing area provides access to the Salkehatchie River for small boats.

• Rivers Bridge State Historic Site

  During the latter part of the Civil War, as General Sherman's forces were headed for Columbia, Confederate soldiers took advantage of the narrow Salkehatchee River crossing to hold them back. This rural historic site preserves one of the very few important Civil War battle sites in South Carolina!
