Way out in the westernmost part of Charleston County, near the Edisto River, you will find this secluded location in the ACE Basin National Wildlife Refuge. Both history and wildlife abound here.
Numerous hiking trails run through the woods and the marsh lands around the old plantation. The Goose Pond Trail takes you to see some of the old rice fields and dikes. Plenty of wildlife is visible here. The Seaboard Coast Line Trail runs along an old railroad right-of-way.
The historic plantation house at this location now serves as headquarters for the Ernest F. Hollings ACE Basin National Wildlife Refuge.
