DILLON--Services for Christine Bethea Curtis will be held 3:00 P.M. Monday, July 8, 2002 in
the Main Street United Methodist Church with burial in Greenlawn Cemetery directed by Cooper Funeral Home.
Visitation will be held 6-8 P.M. Sunday at the residence, 311 E. Harrison Street.
Mrs. Curtis, 90, died Thursday, July 5, 2002 in St. Eugene Medical Center.
Born in Dillon County, January 27, 1912, she was the daughter of the late
Tristrum Walker Bethea and Julia Kendrick Bethea. She was a homemaker and was a lifetime and oldest
continous member of the Main Street United Methodist Church where she taught the kindergarten and children's
sunday school classes. In addition, she was a member of the Wightman/Cottingham Circle for many years.
She was a member of the Rose Garden Club for 65 years, a member of the DAR, and she attended Columbia College.
She held various offices in these organizations including President of the Rose Garden Club in 1950-1952
and 1970-1972. She was the widow of the late Livingston Ira Curtis.
Survivors include her sons, John Livingston Curtis of Dillon, Richard Franklin Curtis, MD of
Lenoir, NC and William Erwin Curtis of Naperville, IL; grandchildren, Christine Robinette Curtis, MD,
Rebecca Kendrick Curtis Lipovan, Richard William Curtis, Elizabeth Rose Curtis, William Erwin Curtis, Jr.
and Harrison Cole Curtis.
